I am a self-professed PowerPoint game junkie! I love to use whole-class review activities to reinforce important topics before big exams and standardized tests.
In my 15+ years of experience, I’ve noticed that my students’ test scores improve dramatically when I “host” a PowerPoint review session (I like to think of my self as a female Bob Barker, lol).
Playing these kinds of games really captures their attention and gives them an opportunity to learn from each other, too.
I use PowerPoint game templates all of the time, but, which are my favorites?
Well, here are my top 5:
1. Classroom Feud
This customizable PowerPoint template plays like ”Family Feud!” It has seven rounds of normal gameplay and a “Fast Money” round at the end.
2. Connect4
A unique PowerPoint template that plays just like the popular game, “Connect Four!” On top of reviewing the target content, “Connect4″ requires a bit of strategy to win! It’s my students’ favorite PowerPoint game.
3. Classroom Jeopardy
You’ve probably used a Jeopardy-style game at some point or another, but if you’re looking to upgrade to a new (read: better) model, you should check it out!
4. Wheel of Riches
This easy-to-use PowerPoint template plays like ”Wheel of Fortune!” It’s a fun way to review vocabulary on-the-fly.
5. Baseball
Use this template to create a baseball style review game. I really like playing Baseball with my students because they all have to participate! Students can choose to “swing” for singles, doubles, triples, and home runs!
